What did Korea look like in its modern history?🇰🇷
Personally, I really like museums that show Korea’s modern and contemporary past.
Whenever I visit places like this, I somehow feel nostalgic for a time I have never actually experienced.
Recently, I visited “Cheongchun Museum” in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi-do.
I have been to a modern history museum in Paju several times, but this was my first time visiting this place.
Cheongchun Museum is a small museum that lightly recreates scenes from Korea in the 1970s and 1980s.
You can also rent an old-style Korean school uniform and look around the museum while wearing it! (The rental fee is 2,000 won.)
Back then, most students wore similar uniforms and carried similar school bags. They look quite different from modern Korean school uniforms, right?
There was also something called a “music dabang,” which was very popular at the time.
A dabang was a kind of old-style Korean café, and a music dabang was a place where people could drink tea or coffee while listening to music.
I went inside wearing a school uniform, but actually, minors were not allowed in places like this. 😁
But I heard that, in reality, quite a few students secretly went in anyway. Haha.
There were old magazines and advertisements from that time on the walls.
And those old-fashioned clocks? Almost every Korean home used to have at least one of them.
Small general stores and stationery shops usually looked like this.
These days, you can hardly find places like them anymore.
Even when I was young, there were arcade machines in front of small shops like this, and I used to play games there with my friends.
Overall, this museum is not made with extremely high-quality details.
But it is a fun place where you can briefly experience the atmosphere of Korea in the 1980s.
And for only 8,000 won, I could give my parents a little gift of nostalgia and also have a fun time myself.
So I really enjoyed it. 🥰
