[Situational Korean] Level 0 : How to Check In at a Hotel in Korea

Once you arrive at your hotel, the first thing you need to do is check in.

To be honest, most airports and hotels in Korea usually have staff members who can speak English.

So sometimes I wonder if it is really necessary for me to write posts like this about Korean phrases. But blogs like this always seem to have this kind of post at some point, so I will give it a try too! lol

I’d like to check in.

Korean: 체크인하려고요.

Dictionary Pronunciation: che-keu-in-ha-ryeo-go-yo

Easy Pronunciation: check-in halla-go-yo

I made a reservation.

Korean: 예약했어요.

Dictionary Pronunciation: Ye-yak-haet-seo-yo

Easy Pronunciation: yeahk-has-yo

Could I leave my luggage?

Korean: 짐 좀 맡길 수 있을까요?

Dictionary Pronunciation: Jim jom mat-gil su it-eul-kka-yo

Easy Pronunciation: jeem jom mcgill soo ee-sky-O?

I’d like to check out.

Korean: 체크아웃 하려고요.

Dictionary Pronunciation: Che-keu-a-ut ha-ryeo-go-yo

Easy Pronunciation: check-out halla-go-yo

If you know just these phrases, you should not have much trouble checking in.

To be completely honest, you would probably be fine even if you did not know any Korean at all.

But still, try saying it in Korean. It is fun, right?

Next time, I will come back with a hotel check-in role-play!
